Using a nid argument in a block view in Drupal 6
Submitted by David Lohmeyer on September 27, 2010 - 4:30pmI had a bit of an issue with this since I'm used to using arguments on view pages. To use node id as an argument with a block view you cannot simple use the "Hide view / Page not found (404)" under "Action to take if argument is not present". Instead, do the following:
An ode to difficulty in World of Warcraft: Cataclysm
Submitted by David Lohmeyer on September 24, 2010 - 9:35amWith the release of World of Warcraft: Cataclysm around the corner, many WoW players are seeing the difficulty of heroic dungeons in the beta. I have read the feedback threads on these heroics and watched some videos of clears and it seems like difficulty may be returing to World of Warcraft.
Welcome to the new Vilepickle.com
Submitted by David Lohmeyer on September 20, 2010 - 1:56pmThe new site is up and running. I've been working on this on and off for a little while now and I'm happy with the way it turned out. I'm running the site on Drupal 6 and everything is quite convenient to work with. All of the old site's content has been ported over and it's also better organized. The creations page is the portal to all of my stuff.
International Orders with Authorize.net
Submitted by David Lohmeyer on September 20, 2010 - 9:56amI recently ran into an issue where international customers could not checkout properly in Ubercart, a fully featured Drupal ecommerce solution. I was using Authorize.net as the credit card processer. To allow international customers to be verified with Authorize.net, do the following in your merchant account:
CCK field as a view argument in Drupal 6
Submitted by David Lohmeyer on September 18, 2010 - 12:32pmI found this trick during the development of Acton Institute's new Drupal-ized website. I wanted to be able to list out other articles by the same author and show it on a sidebar. Here's the setup:
- Article authors are CCK nodereference fields to a separate author content type
How does one then construct a view that thinks the author is a CCK field and not the actual node's author? It's a lot easier than I thought. The only thing you need to have in your view is an argument with a little PHP magic.
[Release] CTF_Mercy Final 1.0!
Submitted by David Lohmeyer on September 12, 2010 - 4:59pmCTF_Mercy has been upgraded to final 1.0! This version is largely a polish build that also reduces filesize and removes promotional materials from the map.
I enjoyed building this level and I believe it accomplishes the goals I set in the beginning: to have a ctf_mach sized level that eliminates mid turtles and spawn camping while also reducing the power of a sentry farm. There’s still a good sentry spot or two in the map (like behind the intelligence) but there are various attack positions to take that buildup out.
